Dahlia Tuber Sale & Shipping Policy – 2026
Thank you for visiting and considering our dahlia tubers!
🌸 Late-Season Dahlia Tuber Clearance – Memorial Day to June 15, 2026
Late-Season Tuber Clearance! Because spring is already here, our top priority is getting your tubers to you — and into your garden — as quickly as possible so they can start growing.
🌱 Where My Tubers Come From
All dahlia tubers offered in this sale are grown here on my farm—never purchased in bulk or repackaged. I trial every variety for 2–3 years to build healthy, reliable stock before making it available for sale. When I do bring in new varieties, I source them only from other small flower farms across the country. I do not buy Dutch imports or big‑box‑store dahlias.
Every tuber is grown with care using sustainable practices — from natural pest management and weekly feeds with fish emulsion, water-soluble calcium, and blackstrap molasses, to daily inspections and strict sanitation (10:1 bleach solution on tools between plants and during dividing). I use organza bags for protection when needed and remove any plants showing signs of disease to ensure only the healthiest make it to you.
My focus is on reliable cut-flower varieties with a few unique standouts. After cultivating over 1,000 plants with strong tuber yields in 2025, I’m excited to share these vibrant, healthy blooms with you this season.
⭐ First‑Come, First‑Served Policy for Dahlia Tuber Sales
Dahlia tubers are sold on a first‑come, first‑served basis. A tuber in your cart is not reserved—it’s only yours once checkout is completed and your order is confirmed. Because many shoppers are trying for the same varieties, items may disappear from your cart if someone checks out faster. It’s frustrating — I’ve been on the losing end of the dahlia wars myself.
For the best chance at getting your top picks, grab your must‑have varieties first, check out, and then come back for the rest. If one of your favorites still disappears during checkout, please don’t panic — there are usually plenty of other beautiful varieties still looking for a new garden home, and dahlia season has a way of surprising you with new loves you didn’t expect. To help reduce this frustration in the future, email subscribers will receive early access to next year’s sale.

🌱 Planting & Frost Advisory: Be sure to check your growing zone!
- USDA Hardiness Zones 8-11: These are the ideal zones for growing dahlias as perennials. They can withstand winter temperatures and do not need to be dug up for storage in fall/winter.
- USDA Hardiness Zones 3-7: These are the zones where dahlias are typically grown as annuals.
- Immediate Planting: Because we are into the 2026 planting season in most areas, these tubers should be planted right away for best results.
- Frost Risk: If you live in areas where frost is still possible in late May or June (such as MN, SD, ND, MT, or similar climates), do not plant until your last frost date has passed.
- Storage Instructions: Store tubers in a cool, frost-free space (40–50°F) with good air circulation until it’s safe to plant. Avoid freezing temperatures — frozen tubers will rot and die.
🌿 Understanding Dahlia Viruses & Growing Conditions
Dahlias are living plants, and like all living things, they can be affected by environmental factors and naturally occurring plant viruses. According to research from the American Dahlia Society, studies show that a large majority of dahlias carry some form of latent virus. In most cases, these viruses remain completely dormant — the plant will grow, bloom, and appear perfectly healthy.
A virus may only “activate” and show symptoms if the plant is stressed by:
- Extreme heat or cold
- Poor or compacted soil
- Pest damage
- Improper handling or planting depth
- Over- or under-watering
While it is impossible for any grower to guarantee 100% virus-free stock, I take every possible step to minimize risk:
- Daily inspections during the growing season
- Immediate culling of any plant showing suspicious symptoms
- Strict sanitation practices between plants and during dividing
- Careful selection of only the healthiest tubers for sale
